I feel like my little three year old niece announcing "Here I am!!!" Life/work/church has been so crazy, haven't blogged much. Thus this lovely Monday morning update.
How about some random thoughts to start the week?!
- Saw the doc today for the third time in six weeks…about a cough (darn it all….reminds me of the movie "About a Boy" – and how Hugh Grants narrates the drive to the hospital while following the ambulance in his sports car…and saying how awful but how fabulous it is. RANDOM, I'm telling ya!) -OH YEAH – and the doc finally announces it's bronchitis and that I should be on antiobiotics. *big sigh* finally. I'm sure my neighbors are not enjoying my having the window open at night on warm nights – and coughing – thus hindering their sleep.
- Took a nephew, Taylor, to see "Get Smart" yesterday. Laughed more than a few times but felt it resembled a TV show more than a movie. WAIT..it's based on a television show. no wonder! Speaking of laughing….was glad to be sitting near a guy who laughed at the same time my nephew and I did…… getting the same jokes. unless he didn't get any joke and just nervously laughed when we laughed. whichever – he made it more fun.
- Went to my grandfather's 90th birthday lunch on Saturday and as we all greeted him with "Happy Birthday!!!!" he'd reply with "Same to you!!" – which only really applied to me since my birthday is a week before his.
- On the hour-long trip home (turned into two hours due to construction/flooding/repair work), my niece (age 3) asked, "What……is……going…..ON?????" very deliberately and in a concerned manner as if we were deliberately keeping Her Highness from a very important engagement and we should take care of the trivial matter of a traffic jam so that we could arrive at Grandma's house to play school and eat watermelon right on schedule.
- Great sermon at church on Sunday. The Youth Guy continued a series on playing cards..with a message called "Spoons"…. addressing the idea that sometimes we get so caught up with having our cards in order (our lives in order, having a church that is a safe place to be around where we can learn about raising families and living good lives – for example) that we forget about the spoons (the needs of the world: enough drinking water, the Gospel given to those who've never heard it, children living in poverty and/or working as slaves). We were given plastic spoons with our bulletins and I should have counted the number of spoons that fell to the floor during the message or when we were to bow our heads to pray!
- Had a bit of a girls night with a friend – dinner and a movie. Fun.
- Posted a reply on Ragamuffin Soul and am enjoying the other comments. There are some witty people out there! Be my friends….please? (to add to the witty people I already know, of course!!) (did I cover my you-know-what there???)
