These are beautiful, simple workspaces for the home (or any lucky workplace!).

Then check out this photo of me at my desk during a homeschooling year for third grade (1976!) while my family was in Seoul, South Korea.  I was ecstatic over the fact that I had a Real Office Desk at which to work.

Third Grade - Home Schooled 1976

Let's observe a few things, shall we?

  •  Age 8, rockin' the long sleeve under short sleeve look.  That's right!
  • Early on in life – creating an inspiration board (not too shabby: a ballerina, a picture I colored in, and a chart containing sparkling stars).
  • Cute red pencil sharpener.
  • A globe with images that have changed much since 1976.
  • Let's not calculate my current age, shall we?  I'm "32".
  • The curtains behind me are pretty much the same pattern as the dress I wore for my eighth grade graduation from a small private school.  As the only girl in my class of two, I walked away with the Best Dressed award.

Happy-Almost-Long-Weekend to you!  I have no Big, Exciting Plans apart from seeing a movie or two (my to-see list includes Sex and the City 2,  the Queen Latifah movie, and Iron Man 2), visiting family in Appleton, continuing the decluttering of my kitchen, and reading on the deck if the weather cools down.

What do you have planned this weekend?

My god! Look at you and your chic-ness: fashionable, inspiration board, and pared-down space.
No real plans for the weekend. As I forgot it was a holiday weekend, I failed to request time off, so I’ll probably be on the retail floor Monday. Oh well.

OK, so I totally did accelerated christian education too. I wasn’t homeschooled, though–I did it in a private school setting. Never knew that about you!

I loved those booklets! And I never knew either that YOU went through ACE! I did those for a year and then worked them again when I was the only seventh grader in a new little school my dad helped start that had K-8 in two rooms. I did my science and math via ACE back then.
And that school that was so tiny? It’s now a big academy in the area with two campuses. Who knew?!
Those booklets were heavenly for me..as I’m task oriented and could work at my own pace. Did you like it?

UPDATE: Hadn’t heard any press about the SATC2 movie..and didn’t know it was a big ol’ product placement + crude movie. But my friend was happy we saw it…so I’m glad I was able to go with her.
I can’t get to the Queen Latifah film (Just Wright) because the three local cinemas are all devoting space to Shrek and SATC and are no longer showing the films I want to see!
