Loving the green hallway floor and the purple + floral combination. I have those same pillowcases (from IKEA) and never thought to pair them with purple bedding. NICE!
Today has been a great day! Slept in but really got up at 7:30 AM because I'd had enough sleep. Finished a great book (British chick lit book called "Roommates Needed"). Had a yummy smoothie for breakfast while curled up on the couch with a cozy blanket. Got some tidying done. Then had a fun afternoon with family – eating the usual turkey and mashed potato meal for Thanksgiving and then playing games all afternoon. Once home, unpacked items from the car, made a quick dinner, watched a touching Thanksgiving special of Rachael Ray that had me in tears at the kindness of strangers to help others.
Then…….I perused the ads from the paper for the store specials. The stores are opening at midnight or 3 AM or 4 AM ….. and have some "eh" deals. The only ones I considered were kids digital cameras at $19 each at walmart and some gorgeous brightly colored scarves from Target for $5 each. (Suddenly, I must have an orange scarf to brighten up my black and gray outfits. hmm..perhaps a dark red one…and a purple one..and oohh..the blue is gorgeous!)
But then I thought, "What would happen if I just tossed the ads, went to sleep and didn't shop during the night?"
Answer? Nothing. I'd get a good night's sleep.
I'd wanted a comforter for $20 to replace my current down-alternative comforter. But it works just fine.
I took the game Mastermind with me to my brother's house today, and his kids loved the game so much that I left it with them. One fewer item in my apartment!
I thought about getting a digital camera for my niece and her younger brother to use, but then realized that I can give her my digital camera (which has been dropped a dozen times already) when I get a newer one for myself. Saves me money on buying her a camera and keeps the camera going instead of being tossed when I get a new one.
I'm getting the hang of this using what I own and not buying new items just because they're new.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to sleep…and will hopefully wake in time to leisurely drive to Target to get a scarf or three. Wouldn't you?
