It feels like spring today which reminds me of spring when I was a child. My brothers and I would run around outside for hours while playing frisbee or capture the flag, playing on swingsets, and we'd arrive home exhausted and covered in mud. (How fun it was to squish your toes in mud puddles.)
Those days are long gone but that anticipation of being outside again in spring weather remains. To celebrate it, how about a giveaway? CSN Stores is providing one reader with a $55 gift certificate toward a purchase in any of their 200+ stores!
Simply comment below (by Sunday evening) with your favorite idea to freshen up a home after a long winter. Please keep the following rules in mind:
- Must live in the U.S. and Canada only.
- The $55 gift certificate does not include shipping but can be used for a purchase in any of the 200+ stores!
- One comment/entry per person (it's only fair).
- Include your email address when providing your information to leave a comment so I can contact you if you're a winner!

Fresh flowers and bright colors (and wide open blinds and windows) do it for me.

Windows open! And of course cleaning with great smelling products. Alex walked in the door yesterday ( after I had cleaned it with Murphy’s Oil soap) and said it smells like nice weather! LOL
PS: YAY for giveaways!

I agree completely. Its crazy how 45 degrees feels so warm. I love to just go around the house and open all of the windows and finally let some fresh air into the house. Nicole it sounds like i will have to give that soap a try. Gotta love when it smells like nice weather.

We still have two feet of snow on the ground with more to come. My Spring thing is organizing drawers, cabinets and closets so we’ll have more time to run around outside when it warms up!

I always like when I get to take the heavy blankets and fleece sheets off the beds and replace them with the light summer bedding.

Our home is always needs to be refreshed after the cocooning effect of the rustling oil burner, the frosted panes, and rivers of hot tea and chocolate insulating us from within. We strip away the crocheted throws, wash the windows, draw the blinds up letting in the sun and set out vases with yet to blossom forsythia branches and pots of bulbs on uncluttered surfaces. Oh… I am yearning for it right this minute!

We always do a thorough spring cleaning and clean out our closets. We keep the clothes we wear most frequently and any clothes that are in top shape but not worn too often we donate! I usually have window washing duty 🙂

We dust and clean and change the linens as necessary. Then put out reed difussers as a nice feng shui touch.

my favorite way to freshen up a home is cracking open the windows, buying some flowers and hanging up some season appropriate art!

After a long dreary winter the eyelids (windows) of our home
need to be cleaned (wash windows) and opened wide for the streaming effect of the sunlight, and the music of nature to feed live through out the house to every nook and cranny.

Hi, I swap our spring/summer clothes with our winter clothes in the closets, and put away the bed quilt.

My favourite thing is to open the windows (ALL of them!) and one by one, go through the house and wash them – casings, glass, cruddy bottom bits and all. The house is so much brighter when it’s done! 🙂

Clean the windows! All the dirt and gunk built up after a long winter really dulls the light coming. It’s so refreshing to get those clean!

I take the opportunity to get rid of any dust that’s hiding behind furniture, throw the windows open, and clean with good-smelling natural products like Simple Green that don’t interfere with the nice springtime smells!
