• Last night, I had an unusual message in my inbox in Facebook. I opened it, clicked the link and then proceeded to DOWNLOAD the item that said I was to update…which took me to a fake youtube page.   Then my facebook account sent out spam messages to friends…  My virus protection program is now doing a full scan… but I can't believe I clicked those links!

The author of this post did the same thing…..and said that if he'd received the email in a personal account like gmail, he wouldn't have opened it or clicked the link.  But he trusted the person who sent him the message on facebook.

So now I sit here wondering if my computer is infected.  Crapola!

UPDATE:  I ran Windows Defender on my computer and found some software running without my permission.  Deleted it.

I wrote this so you'd be aware that there is a virus in facebook and to be alert for odd messages that may appear.

    • If I'd paid attention and was aware there were bad messages in my inbox, I wouldn't have clicked the link and then DOWNLOADED the item they wanted me to download.  I pretty much invited the bad stuff in.
    • The message was kinda crude and arrived in my facebook inbox from someone who is quite conservative and modest.  I was surprised at the topic….but opened the message. (DING DING DING – warning sign, Sunny, warning sign)
    • I should know that most of my facebook messages don't have LINKS – especially ones that don't make sense (the link was full of nonsense).

So if you have facebook, be careful but don't worry too much 🙂

  • I may have told a fella in the office about a fellow employee’s intense dislike for paper clips (blogged about last week). He dropped off a document for me in my inbox recently and I found this note on top.DANGER - paper clip.jpg

katie and I made dinner saturday night – chicken, homemade mashed potatoes, and salad..with brownies for dessert.

we then watched scrubs, “somewhere in time” and then a few episodes of “wipeout”.

Spent time with katie on saturday. Katie is part of the youth group at church and while we were at Starbucks (I got icewater, thank you very much!), we ran into our senior pastor from church. She asked for his photo and he readily agreed, saying "No one ever asks me for a photo!"

  • hello! hope your sunday is going well. I’m going to sleep before 9 PM, hoping this cold is not a serious one. All I’ve wanted to do all weekend is sleep…so I’m giving into that now.

Hopefully will be back with you in a few days!

  • SCENARIO 1

In the car one December, minute 10 of a 15 hour journey across the country. My friend Brian's mom asks, "Where is this 'Arbys' that you speak of?"   [what century does she believe us to be in?]

I began my reply with, "Well, Fairest Maiden….."

    SCENARIO 2

I'm stuck behind a semi-trailer today at lunch as we both want to turn left at a light.  (You know how I adore left turns!)  We get a green arrow – permitting us to turn, and the driver sits there. Instead of honking, I calmly ask the driver, "Dude, go so that I may go as well."

This has been a crazy week.  No time to sit down at home, except to fall into bed when I get home from meetings or seeing friends.  That's why this weekend will be low-key. Saturday night, I'll be watching "Schindlers List" with Katie (from the youth group) who has never seen it.  We'll counter it with a lighter movie to be watched after a break for dinner.  Friends will join us for the second film.  The rest of the weekend will be as low key.  Might see the new film "The Women" since I'm a Meg Ryan fan.

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ  {head on the desk, cheek smashed on the desk top, drool..you don't want to see this}

seriously. tired. cannot think straight. will update later with pretty pictures and weekend updates.

    UPDATED HOURS LATER

When I got home tonight, I collapsed onto my bed while still wearing work clothes and slept solidly for two hours.

The lack of sleep was probably due to getting up Monday, Wednesday, Friday for an aqua challenge class that took place at 5:45 AM those days.   My old suit wasn't cutting it, so I checked online and www.oldnavy.com has clearance swimsuits for $9.99.  Worth checking out!  I got two swimsuits plus expediting shipping for less than $40!

I will now make a smoothie for dinner and curl up on the sofa to watch "Tabatha's Salon Takeover"  – my new most favorite show.

  • On one of my favorite blogs, Chez Larsson, Benita has posted some hints on the "art of display".

My favorite is #4 – Repetition.  I get a sense of order, peace, and "all's right with the world" when I see groupings such as the ones shown here.  It's the way the same item is lined up neatly… and, apparently, in odd-numbered groupings, to give the eye a rest.

"Repeating similar items is also a great attention grabber. If you have a collection of similar items you can simply line them up 3, 5 or 7 at a time. Uneven numbers are more pleasing to the eye as the eye tends to group things in two's which will "break apart" your display. Again think about the grouping trick, although this is not a triangle you still need to keep your repeated items close together, if not touching or overlapping. Also remember the empty space. Leave a little bit of space in between groups."

The "art of display" is worth checking out.

  • Chez Larsson (the ultra organized Benita in Sweden) listed her six quirks today and challenged others.  So here's a try at mine:

    1. Preferred toppings on waffles/french toast: peanut butter + real maple syrup. [listing it as a quirk since I get made fun of for wanting peanut butter at breakfast.
    2. When I picture the days of the week + months of the year and even hours in the day, I "see" it in my mind as going from right to left…with midweek (Wednesday) being in the middle….and saturday/sunday on the far left – to end the week.  Same thing with months.  June is in the middle..and since we're in September, it's more left in my head.  So for the day, I picture midnight as far right on a timeline…with noon being in the middle…and afternoon just left of center.
    3. I've had two concussions with resulting short term memory loss.  You can tell me we've had a discussion about something and I'll thoroughly deny it.  Tell me anyway that we had the discussion.  Yet I'll remember random things…..hold on..that's #4.
    4. I may have short term memory loss but I'll remember random things like the fact that your cousin has a green bookcase at home or that your niece's best friend prefers to watch the movie "Mary Poppins" repeatedly.

    5. I don't like making left turns while driving.  So I'll go a bit out of my way to go right instead or find a place that has a left turn arrow..making it a more precise turn.

    6. I can't whistle. I can blow air..but can't whistle.

Done.  Six quirks.  Anyone else?  I'd love to read yours!

(sorry – spacing issues. awaiting typepad's help with this….. the perfectionist in me is frustrated that the spacing is off.  but I suppose that makes me human! imperfect!)

  • matchbox ministries (the youth ministry at church) kicked off the new school year with the first youth service (a church service run by youth for youth ages 11 to 19 with Youth Guy (age 25) bringing the message) on Sunday. The fall series is called Rhythm, and rumors were flying about a big surprise and boy…was it ever a surprise.  Chicago's Kaotic Drumline performed…. amazing.  Jamie Poindexter, a high school dropout, started the drumline to keep kids off the streets of his south side Chicago neighborhood…and encouraged them to get better grades.  The group has been together three years and Jamie has since completed his high school education.  Kaotic performs at WNBA games and other events around the country. It was a privilege to have them in our church yesterday!

I posted a video of Kaotic Drumline this morning.  Bear with it. It's dark with the group entering from the back and then the group is easier to see at the front.
