• It's my brother Jay's birthday. Ahem, James. But he lets me still call him Jay…because that's what he used be called.

My baby brother is turning 33 today. How can that be if I'm only 28?!

Happy Birthday, little (tall) brother! (shown here with his wife Maya and their youngest, Hudson)James + Maya + Hudson.JPG

I am moving in March, 2009. Wonder if I can find an apartment as spacious as this for really, really cheap?!

  • Shawn (nephew) turned five yesterday but the party at the children's pizza place was on Sunday.  As we arrived, he got to hang out with the mascot during a "show".

Then I visited my brother Jay's house to see the family's new dog.  Emma is an 18-month old golden retriever. Adorable.  I think if I ever live where I can have a dog, I'd like a mix of a golden retriever + sheltie. (We figured out that the dog we grew up with was a mix of golden retriever, sheltie, poodle (very slight) and cocker spaniel. We knew he was a mix – never knew a mix of what though.)

Have just been distracted by this flickr photo set. The photos of the daughter at play are how I'd imagine a childhood should be. And the home is simple, colorful and cozy. A place you can instantly be at home. It's in Finland. I may need to move there.

I am loving this bathroom…the mix of old and new….. so pretty!
my bathroom is pretty white right now…apart from one bright shower curtain. I'd like to bring in a mix of accessories or furniture as shown here.

    beautiful bed and bedding!

am off to run errands: library, cafe, the gym, grocery store. wishing there were a farmers market nearby! I miss going to the one at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Didn't go often enough when I lived there.

  • This office has two single-person restrooms located next to the employee entrance door. More than once, I've uttered some words that would be highly suspect if heard out of context, say, as you pass the restrooms.  These include:

    • "What is THAT??????"    [asked while seeing a big spot of mocha on my shirt that I didn't know was there.]  followed closely by…
    • "How did that get THERE???"

    Hmm..I thought I had more.

What are some statements you think shouldn't be spoken in a restroom or overheard in general?

orange sunset, originally uploaded by sunnygirlwi.

    it's friday. WOO HOO.

here's the sunset from wednesday night. I was about to drive home when the sunset caught my attention. woah. took thirty photos of it on the twenty minute drive home.

was at the state fair on thursday. took my three year old nice, mimo, and nephew caleb, age nine. our day was mostly spent on rides, eating junk food, and walking around. fun!

turns out I left my bank card with one of the ticket agents when I bought a ride wristband for mimo. thank goodness they called the bank's number and my bank canceled the card. no unknown purchases noted yet. meanwhile, it's time to live in that limbo land of no debit card so I'll have to get cash from my bank to tide me over the two weeks.

what are your weekend plans? I am seeing the sisterhood of the traveling pants movie tonight, going to a nephew's birthday party on sunday, and bowling with the youth group. plus there's the pile of library books waiting for me to read all of them before they're due next week. eighteen books and counting.

  • Bedroom - hardwood floors

There's something about this bedroom that appeals to me.  At first glance, I thought th room was much bigger, more spacious than it actually is.  I glanced at it and wanted to move in immediately.  I will most likely be moving in the spring from my amazing apartment – because they're to be sold as condos. So I've already got apartment hunting/roommate searches in mind.  Would love to find a place where I could set up a bedroom like this!

  • I drink a ton of water every day. a TON. (as in the past 3 hours, I have had 50 ounces of water….. and another 32 ounces before lunch)

so I visit the restroom a lot. about once an hour. this afternoon I’ve been checking the time. I went at 1:10 PM then 1:40 PM.

the next thing I know..it’s 2:40 PM..and I have to go. Then at 2:44..I’m like GIVE ME A BREAK! IT’S ONLY BEEN FOUR MINUTES AND I HAVE TO GO AGAIN? WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY BLADDER??? Then I remember. The bathroom was in use at 2:40…so I never did use it. The urge went away at that time but returned..which is when I thought AGAIN?

yes – I have the absent minded professor mentality.and YES, apparently I have the odd (weird? scary? bizarre?) habit lately of checking the clock when I need to use the restroom. WHO DOES THAT??? It feels like I live in there so a check of the clock reassures me that yes, time *has* passed since the last bathroom trip.venti ice water.JPG
