• Library elf

Friday night was a great Girls Night Out.  Starbucks + Target + Mamma Mia.

While at Target, I snapped photos of 18 book covers so that I could remember to check my library catalog online over the weekend. My library ROCKS! The county-wide system had all 18 books.  So I put a hold on all of them.  Yep. Mostly chick lit.  I have a stack of deeper books at home (historical, theological, youth ministry, etc.) and tend to get library books that are fluffy and/or pretty.

Library Elf keeps track of my books for me and puts the books I have on hold – into the order in which I’m in line.

The rest of the weekend included lunch with Elena to hear about the trip to Nashville a group from church took last week, lunch with Katie on Sunday, church on Sunday where two “band guys” were sitting a few rows over and I wondered who they were.  Never got to find out.  (They just looked like band guys.  Cool shirts and jeans, great shoes, longer hair…and the confidence that many singers/band guys have.)

Then a friend stepped on my flip-flop-clad foot and jammed a toe of mine. So I have a black and blue big toe. Spent Sunday afternoon with the foot elevated while I took ibuprofen and watched a couple movies. Plus indulged and watched Big Brother last night. My two latest favorites are Keesha and Remy.

What did you do this weekend?

Is it any wonder I now want to watch the entire Back to the Future trilogy this weekend? Left the diner after dinner last night and saw friends-of-friends getting into this DeLorean.  Coolest car of the night. Come on, who doesn’t think of time travel when they see one of these babies?! There’s a photo of me in the car but you’re not gonna see it because I pretty much fell into the front seat and the camera caught my look of surprise. Even if I’m in the cutest new dress ever!

After a mini-photo-shoot, Brian, Christy and David pulled me away to go play the highly addicting game Settlers of Catan at a local game store.  David won.  Congratulations!  Of course, we all knew it was his Gaming Sweatshirt that really won the game for him.

It’s FRIDAY, people.  What are you planning to do this weekend?

I’m going to see Mama Mia tonight, dragging my friend Kathy to see it since she’s a mom of four kids, an engineer, and a wife..and rarely gets to go out without kids.  Our big night includes a cafe then a late movie – where we’ll attempt to stay awake for the entire film.  Doesn’t get more crazy fun than that.

Saturday night is a movie night/housewarming at a friend’s new apartment.

Somewhere in there I have a stack of 17 library books to peruse, three films from Netflix to devour, and countless hours of reality TV to watch/analyze.  Will probably dream about styling hair in a decorated room while figuring out who the Mole is while laughing at the last comic standing who is wearing a project runway designed outfit.

I like “nothing but bonfires”‘ response:

“Your life is what? Empty? Square? A window? WHAT?”

  • two weeks.  these little (and big) ones will be gone across the country for two weeks.

by the time they return, the littlest will not just be barely walking.  He’ll probably be running marathons.  The little girl will be chattering away as the host of a talk show.  The oldest will be in graduate school. And I’ll sigh and wonder where the time went.  Yes, this auntie will miss her little/big niece and nephews.

I have always, always wanted to visit France.
Must begin saving immediately for a trip to France.
Need to keep photos like this handy as a reminder.

  • So Kate Hutinson ( http://katehutchinson.blogspot.com/2008/06/this-is-kid-who-lives-across-street.html) noticed this boy across the street who always rides his Big Wheel. She noticed him dressed up one day and thought he’d arrived home from a formal event. Turns out, he got home from school and decided to dress as Mr. Bean for the rest of the day. How precious is that?little mr bean.jpg
