Cube sweet cube, originally uploaded by tiffany bridge.

Saw this on Unclutterer this morning. Very nice. I have never worked in a cube before and luckily have my own office now, but it’s nowhere as neat as this cube is!

    It’s FRIDAY! How’s yours going?

I’m looking forward to seeing a movie tonight and going to my grandfather’s 90th birthday lunch tomorrow, and then relaxing the remainder of the weekend!

Any movie recommendations? Get Smart opens today I hear.

  • Fun with office supplies. And a new cameraphone.INTERESTING coworker.jpg

  • NOTE TO SELF: Do not consume the following combination of foods in a 24-hour period:  a big can of baked beans (to accompany sloppy joes – and eaten for dinner, breakfast then dinner again), a lot of carrots, an apple, some almonds and some peanuts.  You will end up with a tummyache, and drive to the nearest pharmacy [as opposed to the one four states over] and slink up to the counter, notice the numerous customers waiting for prescriptions, and select the "privacy" of the Consultation Window.

You explain your "dilemma" only to have the pharmacist yell,

"IS IT GAS??? DO YOU THINK IT COULD BE GAS?????"

    [whispering] "Yes, it could be."

"THEN TRY GAS-X OR ANY OTHER PRODUCT DESIGNED TO REDUCE GASSSSSS!!!!!!!"

"Thank you." [slinks away from the Consultation Window]

  • Lavender mint products W580i_spec_frontandside_junglegreenBlack flip flopsDexter

I am a purely random person (and declare it to be so…unapologetically [ahem..vegas girlfriends])…… here are the latest random thoughts milling about in my head…

    • Is it wrong to love a hair product this much?  Just started using a lavender mint shampoo + conditioner and love the way my hair smells….catching glimpses of it occasionally when turning my head.
    • Today is the first day without foot/leg soreness – since Saturday's 10 mile walk in Vegas (okay – it was more like one mile, if that..but if you wear flip flops (even cute ones) - it seems like 10 miles).
    • Got a new phone – a slider phone, despite my barista friend Alecz who declared slider phones to be "soooo last year".  Really? Because mine's GREEN and it's a huge step up from the non-flip phone with the green screen/black letters I was using. (oh yeah – to add to my sob story – it wasn't even a camera phone.  *sniff*).
    • Missing my kids – the junior high and high school students from the youth group at church. Will see them tonight at a local cafe. WOO HOO!
    • Speaking of youth ministry, I now have a "social coordinator" of sorts to organize and run the games for me for the junior high girls this fall.  I can then focus on preparing for and leading the small group discussions.
    • The apartment is more under control now. I spent 15 minutes at home after lugging in two big bags of groceries in and needing dinner – unloading the groceries and starting dinner.  Within 15 minutes, the kitchen was clean and dinner was ready.  Later in the evening, I set the timer again for 15 minutes, and made a lunch for today, washed my face, brushed my teeth, changed for bed, laid out an outfit, and still had time left on the timer. So I tidied up the bathroom and the kitchen island counter. How productive was that evening?  All in 30 minutes.  Left time to watch the models-over-age-35 show….and some of Last Comic Standing.
    • Tomorrow I'll get back to watching Dexter on DVD. It's strangely addicting.

this entryway appeals to me. I like the coat rack, the bag hanging on it, the pretty shoes on the rug, the wallpaper….

    it’s from a danish home.

  • Vegas was fun, fun, fun! Met up with Kirsten, Kathy, Sharona, Katy and Annelies. Walked Fremont Street, enjoying the variety of people who go there and the cover bands that played, had breakfast at 1:00 AM, did some gaming, drank some fruity drinks, hung out at the pool, walked parts of The Strip, enjoyed a fancy dinner at The Wynn, and then drinks and dancing at the club Mix.

Here are some of the photos.  Will post more this week.

  • hello!!!! went to vegas and am now back…..enjoying a day off. met a friend for lunch and then read for awhile at a different starbucks. am reading a great book… “the art of being a woman” {by veronique vienne, a frenchwoman now living in the States} and am not much beyond the preface where she talks about our not needing to apologize for ourselves…or for being intelligent or independent. and that being a woman in this world is a gift to others – smiling at someone can brighten their day and just being comfortable in your own skin makes things a bit better and brighter for those around you.

so I read a bit today and enjoyed the view from this new-to-me starbucks…where I could see the flow of traffic but looking above it, could rest my eyes on the greenery and the beautiful summer sky.

I will write more tomorrow and have photos to share….the weekend in vegas was like a dream..but there are photos to prove it!

    enjoy your afternoon!

  • Birthday cake

As is the custom when you start school or a job, when it's your birthday, you bring in the birthday treat and announce "It's MY birthday…have some sugar. Then stay away from my office when you get hyper."  Oh..you don't say that when you bring a treat in?

Friends stopped in to see me last night, and I didn't want to make a cake while they were there and then say "Oh..no..sorry… this is not for you!"   So I fed them a dinner of french toast instead.

Which is why 10:30 PM found me making a carrot cake from scratch.  I know, I know. The cake you see above is not a carrot cake.  And you're right.  I made up most of the batter then realized I had no cinnamon and the carrots I got from the fridge were old and dried up.  Oops. No carrot cake then.  What to do?

I added cocoa, a bit of butter and some milk to the batter and made a chocolate cake. Added pecans and then had to bake it a very long time… and it turned into what I'm calling my Brownie Cake.  I hesitated to bring it in..but then realized a) it's a made from scratch cake..what's not to like?  and b) it's chocolate.  what's not to like?

So I sit in my office, biting my nails, wondering when someone is going to call me out as being a fraud..like they know this didn't come from a "recipe".

I have been redeemed.  Just received the following email:  "This is way too good (the cake)!"

    Whew. I can breathe.

  • New artwork + cold survival kit

Last month I had a cold.  Thus the lovely photo above of my "cold survival kit".  Behind that kit is a piece of artwork my sister in law salvaged from a pile of art being tossed out by a local museum of advertising and marketing.  They were throwing out old exhibits to make room for new ones, and my sister in law brought home a big pile of art which got distributed throughout the family.
