Here’s one of my junior high girls with me at church today. People mistake her for my daughter (I don’t have kids.) KC is adorable, fun, and quite the artist!

So I’m at the gym this afternoon and need to check out a lap counter from the trainer at the desk.

Trainer: "Would you like an ice pack too?" (he was handing one to a woman next to me).

Me: "Uh..no thanks! I’d like a lap counter please."

T:  "oww..oww..oww..there’s nothing FUNNY about it…."   muttering "Why do they call it the FUNNY bone anyway???"

T continues to be paralyzed by pain and rubs his elbow to alleviate the discomfort while I focus on filling out the signout sheet correctly.  Without looking up from the form, I ask absentmindedly, "What time is it?"

T – in much pain – "I. Don’t. Know.  It’s 1:10! 1:20!  I dunno.  WHAT KIND OF A PERSON ARE YOU ANYWAY? I’m in pain and you want to know what TIME IT IS????"

Me: "Oh yeah. sorry. a mean person I guess. let’s not spread that rumor around!!"  [waits patiently for the trainer to be okay.]

    T:  "Ahhhh..okay – back to normal."

Me: "Ummm..are you going to live?"

    T: "I think so."

Me: "Good. Because I can’t make fun of you if you’re not gonna live!"

T: "Haha. Have a good workout."

alright. so I said the other office was neat and tidy? so is THIS one. I love it.

hello…it’s FRIDAY! what are you doing this weekend?

I am going to the gym a bunch…to walk the indoor track since it’s rainy here… just discovered my legs have muscles and I can use them! probably a good thing… so I knew I had muscles but I think I was strolling before when I walked..now I’m walking quite fast and am finding my “number” (shhh..on the scale) is getting lower each day. weird! but good!

oh..so this weekend (I’m like Meg Ryan’s character in Sleepless in Seattle when she tells her fiancee she is easily distracted…. hmm..let’s keep up the comparison between me and meg ryan. I like that)

anyway – the weekend!!! hanging out with friends tonight, visiting my mom tomorrow because her very best friend in the whole world is in town for a week, so we’ll play cards and eat dinner.

sunday is church then who-knows-what? I keep sundays free of any commitments apart from church.

was going to see Made of Honor but just read a review from sfgate.com that it shouldn’t have been a movie longer than 20 minutes. uh oh. so I’ll wait and see the ashton kutcher vegas movie when it comes out next week.

I think that’s it. you’ve gotten to read my most recent thoughts that filled my head…and now my mind is empty. probably should go work on that….fill my mind with some philosophy or some other deep stuff.

ooh… forget that. any of you Office fans? when ryan runs into kelly and asks her what’s new and she gives him celebrity updates and nothing personal? LOVED that. no depth happening there.

really. I’m done. see ya. have a good weekend!

  • tidy desk
    Loving this tidy desk.

An incentive to truly toss extra receipts, junk mail, and other paper so that my home office can look just as nice as this one!

  • to quote Rona who is quoting someone else…..this will explain where she has been lately..and where I’ve been…

Twitter is ADDICTING. Just so you know.

    ************************************************

    Rona writes:

Lately I have been sucked into a cultural phenomenon called Twitter. It all started when I was sent an article last week written by Lore Sjoberg, in which he described it as "something like a collection of personal blogs, only each entry is limited to 140 characters, so you end up with a vertical stack of bite-size, artificially flavored communication snacks. They’re oddly compelling while remaining staunchly unsatisfying, and it always feels like maybe the next one will quell the roiling ennui inside. Like an elderly widow keeping the TV on for "company," I keep a Twitter window open whenever I’m online, and accept that as sort of, kind of communication."

My morbid curiousity led me to check it out. And OMIGOSH it’s SO MUCH FUN. And it’s so easy that you wonder why you keep a blog at all when you can tell the world what you’re doing in real time, using your cell phone, and with no pressure to be wordy about it. You HAVE to keep it short. You can also follow various twitterers and get their messages in real-time. So at any given point in the day, your phone will buzz with a text telling you that Lea Ann ‘s bowling or Maggie’s concerned about her neighbors: "Neighbor? You are vomiting…..birthing, moving furniture, or suffering withdrawal. Do you need a casserole or something?"

Sort of’ is such a harmless thing to say. Sort of. It’s just a filler. Sort of – it doesn’t really mean anything. But after certain things, sort of means everything. Like after ‘I love you’ or ‘You’re going to live’ or ‘It’s a boy.

"One of my friends has a stutter and a lot of people think that’s a bad thing, but to me that’s just like starting certain words with a drum roll. That’s not an impediment, that’s suspense! What’s he going to say? Car?? …or Carnival?? …Carburetor!?!? Man…

Here are carolyna, jenny, elly and erin.  They moved to town a few months ago, and I’m just getting to know them.  I never had a sister much less four of them, but I feel like I do now.  They are world unto themselves. They do everything together, finish each other sentences or just say one word and the others fall on the floor laughing.

Random bursts of songs with hand motions, lines from The Office, inside jokes, lyrics – all are fair game.

Our conversations can mainly consist of Facebook, The Office, movies, Facebook, and friends.  Did I mention facebook?  These girls have the most creative facebook statuses on the planet and they are talented artists, muscians, singers, bakers, and sewers (sewing artists?!).

Girls Nights are more fun with them around until they welcome you with a shouted "Get outta my house!!!" and giggle with glee.

  • storage - IKEA - storage
Since I tend to rave about IKEA whenever I get the chance, naturally the question is often asked “What’s the big deal about IKEA?”

THIS, people…. is the big deal about IKEA. Who wouldn’t want a closet that looks this orderly, and wear a wardrobe that appears to mainly consist of white and pink clothing?! Just take a moment to gaze at the ordered loveliness.

I can see it in your face. It’s sinking in, isn’t it?! I thought so!!

On the deck, originally uploaded by Chez Larsson.

finally! 70+ degree weather and no snow!! Means I can sit on my deck, eat dinner, read, write and do arithmetic…(or not). I will journal though.

This photo from chez larsson reminds me to punch up my deck with some color. I have a bistro table and chair set in sunny yellow with a sky blue ceramic container on the table.

Now I’d like to get some pretty table linens and a lantern. Perhaps lanterns to hang up on the roof of the deck as well.

Love the punch of color the lime blanket brings to the outdoor setting.
