• I’m thinking typepad (the host of this blog) saw my facebook mention yesterday – sort of.

Today they introduced BlogIt… a feature on facebook that lets me post to this blog from facebook. So now I can stay on facebook all day!

Now I have to think of something witty to say..and I have nothing..

Oooh..I do have these quotes from The Office:

Andy: Did I do this for me? No. I did this, for the little guy. For Joe six pack. The guy who wakes up every morning in his four hundred dollar a month apartment, wonders how he’s gonna pay his mortgage that month. Wonders how he’s gonna fill his car up, with oil. Wonders how am I gonna pay my kids’ orphanage bills. That guy, shouldn’t have to wonder where he’s gonna park.

and this one – that it took me a minute to get..and now I think it’s hilarious:

Ryan:Did this happen on company property?
Michael Scott:It was on company property, with company property. So, double jeopardy, we’re fine.
Ryan:I don’t think– I don’t think you understand how jeopardy works.
Michael Scott:Oh, I’m sorry. What is, ‘we’re fine’?

  • It’s monday. blech. feel a bit down and quite impatient to go to the gym tonight, impatient for it to be wednesday so I can see my junior high girls again, impatient to get my apartment in order, impatient for it to be summer, impatient for it to be lunch so I can escape with a good book, my lunch and drink a little mocha.

  • Matchbox_ministries_logo_drums_0309

The youth ministry (matchbox ministries) is blessed to have a photographer who takes thousands of photos of the youth ministry and every church ministry – every week.  He captures those still small moments and moments of celebration!  I love this image of the band’s instruments in sillouhette.

Friday night was the Office Party to introduce three sisters (their youngest sister couldn’t make it) to others in the youth ministry.  A dozen of us hung out eating sloppy joes, munching on chips, sipping Dr. Pepper, and watching episode after episode of The Office (Seasons Two and Three).  We laughed so loud and so long, I about lost my voice by morning.

My mom wants to watch the Office to see what all the fuss is about.  I mentioned that for girls, it’s the interaction between Pam and Jim…. captured here (as you see one of the girls sitting as close as possible to the TV because most of us were talking through the show… Volume was at 100.  and we still couldn’t hear!)

    Office_party_1

Saturday was quality time with one of my junior high girls (Elena), time at the gym, then running the computer for the rehearsal and the evening service at church.

Sunday was a great youth service, more quality time with some of my girls, then a Girls Night with the four sisters (Carolyna, Erin, Elly and Jenny) where we watched Signs (I had never seen it) and giggled and talked.  We left "mysterious" messages on a friend’s facebook wall…which thoroughly confused him.  We giggled some more. And talked. A lot.

I must confess that three of the girls and I are (heads hanging low)…. (whispering) "addicted to Facebook".  There. We’ve admitted it.  We don’t want to..but we have.  Or rather, I have for us all.  We love getting updates on friends, and getting messages from friends, and posting photos to share and also viewing other peoples photos.  We get to join groups that reflect our quirkiness and send "flair" to each other that reminds us of inside jokes. We hear funny lines in a show or a movie and instantly confer with each other,  "Yes…that WOULD be a good Facebook status line….  hmm."

Whew.  Feels good to share that. Now I gotta go.  Facebook is waiting for me to update my status with something witty and wonderful.

  • finally friday!

this week has been a very, very long week! I’m so happy it’s friday! yesterday was a haircut and my stylist is amazing at straightening my normally curly/wavy hair. I promised the photo to a friend who wants her colorist to see my hair (aww…how sweetly flattering!) and another friend who is tracking how my hair has grown out from a chin length bob. (See guys? Girls can talk about hair anywhere, anytime!)

Am having friends over tonight to watch The Office as some of us are new to the show…… so there may be 16 people milling around my apartment tonight..munching on food, talking (hopefully) as the goal is to introduce four sisters from Virginia to other kids from the youth group. [speaking of the office, did anyone else find last night’s epidosode slightly awkward? I did love the Jim/Pam interaction though.]

I spent last night baking a dessert, cutting up veggies and making the sloppy joe sauce for tonight. Not to say I’m totally prepared. When I get home, I’ll start running around like crazy, picking up things, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, then casually answering the door like "Hello! I’ve been waiting for you for hours!"

that’s it. just midweek. glad it’s wednesday. it means friday is that much closer!!

    the sun is out.
    temps are actually springlike.
went for a walk at the gym today.
    got a mocha.
what’s not to like about today?

in a few hours, I’ll be hanging out with friends at home then leaving for youth group. after that – the idol results show. i fear brooke may be going home. hoping she doesn’t. i’m okay if kristy goes home. still thinkin’ david cook is gonna win the whole thing. and that david archuleta is going to get a recording contract no matter how poor or well he does from this point on.

  • YIPPEE!  Spring has finally arrived around here.  Tomorrow we might even get temps around 70 degrees!  Today’s a good day because I have my airline ticket in hand for a birthday Vegas trip in two months.  Flying out to meet some California friends and some Wisconsin friends for a girls weekend in Vegas.  If that’s not something to look forward to, then I don’t know what is!  (A friend who’d like to go offered to stow away in my luggage – to be part of the fun.  That’s not gonna happen.  I’ll send ’em a postcard!)

Here are some pretty photos I found this week.  Need the inspiration as I’m having a party for some of the youth group girls who moved here from Virginia – to meet friends of mine.  We’re watching The Office (season 3).  So I want to have a clean, fresh house for them to visit.

  • Spent the weekend with some little people (LP) from my childhood.  They accompanied me everywhere this weekend.  I’ll let Mrs LP tell you her story…..

    Lp_at_home

We’re waiting for Sunny to pick us up…hanging out in front of our house that reminds me of the bright yellow fold out house that was my childhood home.

    Lp_friends

We introduce Sunny to a bunch of our friends….but we have to rush off to meet Sunny’s mom for lunch and some card playin’.

    Lp_playin_skip_bo

We won it all.  Didn’t know skip-bo was that much fun!

    Krysta_lp_affection

Hurried off to eat dinner with Krysta before the concert.  Couldn’t resist smoochin’ my man.  The waitress put up the beverage menu, shielding us from the other diners and calling us "indecent".  Hrmphh..indecent my foot (if I had a foot, that is).

    Lp_concert_with_carolyn_erin

Sat with Carolyna, Erin and Hannah K. at the Chad James + Ginny Owens concert.

    Lp_church_nursery_registration

Went to church.  Because we’re little they wanted us in the nursery.  But we heard about the youth service called Ignition..and hurried downstairs to check it out.

    Groupies_of_worship_band

Woah…we’re now groupies of the worship band.  Gettin’ some t-shirts made up this week. They rock!

    Lp_run_media_shout_during_service

Ran the computer during the service.  After all, running media shout is "just" pressing the space bar!

    Lp_perusing_beverage_options_at_ign

Time for a mocha latte at Ignition’s coffee bar.  Yummm.

    Lp_bryan_roe_little_too_close

A little too close to the youth pastor, Bryan Roe.

    Lp_starbucks_after_a_workout

A little refreshment after a workout with Sunny at the gym.

We had so much more fun than is pictured here.  Check out our weekend photo album!

  • I’ve just received the transcript of this morning’s conversation between Rona and the New Guy in her office.

ME:: Okay, so you see these packets on your desk? I need a copy of the first part, the sublist.

    NEW GUY: Which part?

ME: These, these pages right here. It’s always on top. Sometimes it’s only one page long, sometimes it is several. You will know which ones because it will be titled ‘sublist.’ Then put all the copies right here, in this tray on my desk.

NEW GUY: Okay. Wait, where do I put them?

ME: Right here, in this tray on my desk.

    NEW GUY: Okay.

New guy goes off to copy machine. A few moments later he returns:

NEW GUY: Did you need a copy of the whole packet?

ME: No. Just the sublist. The first few pages.

    NEW GUY: Okay, got it.

  • at youth group last night….

    now it’s poetry time…

    kids play games
    kids like to hurt
    kids like to throw
    sand and dirt

    that’s why we medicate.

The junior high girls and boys last night did an amazing job brainstorming projects to tackle areas of injustice.  We have a three part plan to set in place by May 1 which involves helping the homeless, visiting a hospital, and completing a service project.  Can I just tell you how focused, energetic and motivated those kids were last night?  It will be a student-coordinated project – so it was all them (with a bit of coordination from the leaders).  I’ll report back with photos of the completed project!
