First ferris wheel ride for my niece mimo (center), and it’s inside an amusement center.
Caleb was enjoying it as well if their faces are any indication!
Glimpses of beauty and simplicity around the world.
Did you know that the Alphabet Song and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star share the same melody? I was not aware of this, so EB + JJ sang the songs simultaneously for me during a recent visit to chuck e. cheese.
QUESTION: What is JJ (on the right) saying at the end of the song?
what a cozy kitchen! more photos here.
At last. It is Friday. Time for a Girls Night Out tonight, watching a dodgeball tournament (charity tournament) tomorrow and then hosting another Night at Home at my place. Then a low-key Sunday.
Goals This Weekend: Need to get a toaster (after pulling out the big ol’ toaster oven from the cupboard, waiting patiently for some waffles to toast, running late for work yesterday, and then realizing the oven didn’t work and throwing something (anything!) together for breakfast to munch on while driving to the office). Might drop by the library to get some more books by Stuart Woods and Rob Bell. Maybe some C.S. Lewis.
have you ever been in a mind fog…where you simply can’t think clearly, you view the world around you and everything in it through a distortion?
I just lived in a world of haziness for the past nine days. part of it was fever induced thanks to the flu. but a remnant was from spending time with a critical friend who is now more of an acquaintance. she used to pounce on everything I said and did, until I withdrew into myself and was unsure of everything I’d done. (this happened two years ago). I spent time with her recently for a bit, and felt transported directly back to the time when she influenced my thoughts and actions. I felt paralyzed by my thoughts and got enough work done to meet deadlines – but no extra. emails took extra thought and numerous drafts and even then, I’m sure recipients were singing to themselves…"AWK-ward!!!"
when I figured out today what the problem was and the control one person was having over me, I was able to let the haziness lift and for the first time in forever (or nine days), the fog lifted and I had a clear mind.
that clear mind led to a peace of heart and a cleaner house! I got more done tonight than I have in two weeks:
The photo above is a shot of the new shelves over my desk… the office has become my favorite place in the apartment.
Charming photo!
I am reading so much more these days.
Current book: The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets (Eva Rice)
Current backup book: Velvet Elvis (Rob Bell)
What are you reading?
who knew? a spontaneous trip to chuck e. cheese would be a perfect ending to a weekend! especially when the collective pool of 800 tickets results in your walking away with a star wand that "cost" 500 points. note to self: do not make the wand flash its blue and red lights while in the backseat of a car because it may result in a panicked driver assuming the police are pulling him over and setting him up for a heart attack as well.
who knew? that the movie Penelope would be better than expected – with a classic feel to the clothing, accents (mix of european and american), homes, and city featured.
who knew? that if you forget to change the full-screen setting on the film "Little Miss Sunshine" to wide-screen, you will watch a more creative, artsy version of the film….with half-faces on the screen and voices offscreen providing the dialogue.
who knew? that you could enjoy 50 degree temps one afternoon then wake up in the morning to snow and ice everywhere?
welcome to monday.

staring at this photo today.
hoping your day is a beautiful one!
It’s been one of THOSE weeks. It’s not the flu..but might be. Slight fever, intense chills at night, lethargic, unable to do the daily items required in life. There have been some bright spots! Being rescued from a long rehearsal at church, two friends bringing me dinner during the rehearsal since I’d had to work in the office until the rehearsal started and was thus late (and was yelled at thoroughly in front of six people in the sound booth)(she later apologized).
I just read Katy’s post and feel exactly the same way! "one, big, hot, emotional wreck of a mess… nerves, tension, stress, emotional upheaval, my brain and my body completely out of sync with my heart and soul."
I’m going to blame it on the flu, lack of sleep, and busy schedule and reverse it this weekend by getting a lot of sleep, taking vitamins, and not filling up the schedule. Sounds like a plan!
To friends and family who have been puzzled by my odd behavior this week: Thanks for your patience with me. Here’s to a better week next week!!!
Beautiful postcards from Simply Photo. I was just wishing for spring when I opened the blinds and saw we got more snow last night. Some Leap Day snow just for the fun of it?!
It is Friday! Seeing Penelope (the film) tonight with one friend then returning home to watch Office episodes with another friend and then hosting another friend or two tomorrow night for a Chick Flick Evening.
