Gina and I saw these photos and were instantly smitten with these kitchens featured on emma’s blog. Don’t you just love them too?
Tonight is the night to see Definitely, Maybe. Can’t wait!
Glimpses of beauty and simplicity around the world.

creative jewelry storage. love it! there’s costume jewelry I need a place for and this image from a house tour on apartment therapy is quite lovely!
I need it! no, not the white fish on the left. the coat rack! seems kitchen chairs are not ideal coatracks for a streamlined kitchen/dining room. love this creative one. and the flowered coat on it.
now it’s time to start the day. at least it will end with seeing "definitely, maybe".
Spent this weekend at a retreat for the youth and adult leadership of matchbox ministries – a youth ministry. I’ll let the photos tell the story….
But imagine with me for a moment… you are sitting in the beautiful dining room of a conference center/campground, gazing out at the snow covered ice on the lake. You’re munching on a salad or enjoying a bit of ice cream in the cutest little dessert bowls, when you notice something strange. A parking lot below the dining room is suddenly a flurry of activity. You peer closer to get a better glimpse…being careful not to let your pretty blue jello cubes slide off the table in your earnestness to see what’s happening outside.
What? A blonde in a blue car has been quickly surrounded on all sides by an official looking SUV with tinted windows and three other vehicles…blocking her car in. WHAT IS THIS? A bust? is it the SWAT Team on a covert operation? You crane your neck, trying to figure out what this excitement is before you reluctantly finish dinner and leave for the evening session of the conference you drove four hours to attend. You gather your things, wondering what happened…. and miss the cheer that goes up when a group of 8 guys has successfully gotten the hood of the blonde’s car open so that the battery can be charged. (the doohickey that one would pull to pop the hood open broke completely off…..so getting the hood of the car open was quite the challenge.) And you certainly can’t see the two vans that slid into ditches 20 minutes into their return drive home. Or the big tractor that a farmer used to pull the 15-passenger van out of the ditch.
Now here’s a glimpse into the weekend’s retreat where we all bonded, prayed for each other, spoke words of encouragement to each other, had a ton of fun, heard some teaching from Bryan and sang together. I can’t wait for next year’s retreat!

Am recovering from a sleep-deprived weekend with eight adults and 24 teenagers but it was an amazing bonding time. Will post photos soon. Here’s a summary of the weekend:
After being in such close quarters for 24 hours with so many people, it felt odd to return to a quiet apartment.
And now, winter continues – freezing rain over solid ice + inches of snow to fall by morning. Those of you in warm places? be happy! 🙂
Wednesday night was a Valentine’s Day party with my girls at church. Brittany was to bring cookies but she brought some candy powder instead…. which the girls devoured quickly, giggled at the green tongues and teeth, and then bounced off the walls for the remainder of the hour we were together.
three and a half of my girls: jess, hannah, kirsten & kelsey
Since the girls were not paying attention to much of anything since the sugar rendered them quite hyper, we invited some of the boys wandering the halls in to partake of some of the party food. One of them wanted to join our pictionary game… so he began drawing the item assigned to him. he won the prize for most elaborate drawing. methinks he wanted to impress the girls!
the answer? crossing guard.
adorable photo from megan young of the scent of water.
I saw this years ago and it remains a favorite.
"I felt it!" (smirking)
"Alright, Janice!!"
(AND the look on the guy’s face – the guy in the backseat. Priceless)
The words "I really NEED to go potty!" should never, ever be uttered (nor whined) by someone over the age of three.
Seriously.
Love the name this new-to-me blog: simple things small joys by Cathy Louise in Australia. Okay, I love the blog too. Must be the photos of her home – with the white and wood and pretty accessories and photos. She’s really made her home a comfortable place for her family and friends to visit.
