The sun is out! Everyone seems more cheerful!  Thus it's a good time to bring in some color via KrickelinKrickelin

Am listening to the Amelie soundtrack and making a list for a trip to IKEA this weekend with my sister-in-law.  She's getting some big purchases while I'll be looking for smaller items such as pretty tea towels, inexpensive linen towels to use for anything from wrapping warm bread to wrapping gifts. Candles too.  I need many more candles.  With sunset in the afternoon around here, candles are a must!

Am very happy that Amy (Sweet Sweet Life) and her family made the journey safely from the West to the East Coast and that they're settling nicely into their new home and community!

This image from the IKEA Swedish blog (which I subscribe to and then have Google translate it into English for me) is helping me feel more festive!

I've managed to lose the key to my basement garage storage locker so that I'm unable to get out my Christmas decorations (a pink wreath for the front door, a fiber optic one foot tall tree, and some fairy lights).

Here's hoping you are feeling quite festive! (are you?)

it's a sunny, cold day here.  The daylight has been streaming in – inspiring a bit of tidying up and organizing.  Soon it's off to meet a friend at a cafe to play cards.

What are you doing this weekend?

So my part of the state is waiting for the snow to fall tonight.

Grocery stores are quite busy with customers getting last minute provisions before The Storm.
Video stores have extra customers who are stockpiling DVDs to watch while stuck at home.
Cafe employees are wondering how they'll get to work in the early A.M. and if there will be any customers tomorrow.
The roads are emptying as people rush to the warmth of their homes.

I was a video store customer tonight and found a Katie Holmes film "Pieces of April" that I wanted to see again and also the movie "The Ramen Girl" (not with Katie Holmes in it; uh oh. just realized it's sad.  it's the late Brittany Murphy in the film).  Ran into some friends so we had a cozy dinner in an almost-empty restaurant then spent the evening playing games.  I lost at every one but had oh such fun!

There will be snow when I awake. Maybe I will throw open all the blinds and just gaze out at the quiet softness.    A whole day to myself which seems quite selfish.  A day to be productive or not.  To rest or stay as busy as possible.  Not sure what the day will bring.

What would you do with an entire day to yourself at home?

    I may…….

    • Journal
    • Take photos of my apartment
    • Sort inspiration pages and keep only the best
    • Put pages into sheet protectors into binders
    • Pick a drawer to declutter.
    • Rearrange the bedroom.
    • Put the decals up in the bedroom.
    • Watch the first season of Fringe.
    • Watch more episodes of Gilmore Girls.
    • Nap
    • Take a hot bath
    • Read
    • Bake muffins
    • Start a jigsaw puzzle – hopefully progressing beyond separating edge pieces from the others.
    • Inventory the antique books I have on hand so that I can share the list with family members who want some of the books.
    • Write letters.  Real letters using real stamps on the envelopes!
    • Manicure
    • Pedicure
    • Peruse "Lotta Jansdotter's Handmade Living"

I'm *in love* with this entire look – the sweater, skirt (dress?), tights and shoes.

    Simply beautiful.

And naturally, she (of Garment House) made the sweater herself. It's gorgeous.

Gorgeous trunk found and rescued and topped with a handmade pillow.

It's Thursday! I love Thursdays because it's almost the weekend so there's that and it's a night at home to do laundry, some tidying up then cozying up with a DVD or a new book. I somehow feel quite productive with the washer washing my clothes and the dishwasher cleaning my dishes!

May have to put up some twinkly lights tonight just to have some festivity around – because until I find my keys to the storage locker (which also has my office key on it! shhhh), I have no other Christmas decorations apart from the twinkly lights. I shall claim a simple Christmas perhaps.

What do you do on Thursday nights?

I'm a girly girl.  Kind of.  I favor simplicity in looks – and tend to wear a winter uniform of shirt/cardi/skirt  or dress/cardi – both with tights and mary janes or clunky shoes.  (Yes, I admit to wearing clunky shoes. Not the most fashionable but I love 'em.)  Ooohh and a colorful bag too.

I own bags in orange, yellow, green, black, red, and  then a few patterned ones.  Laughed when I heard my five year old niece ask for bags for Christmas.  She loves purses and bags just like her auntie.  I would spend my allowance each week as a teenager – on purses.

Scarves: can't forget about those. I own ones in gray, white, black, sky blue, raspberry and yellow/white.  This year am looking for a purple scarf and an orange one.

So here's the most recent of my wardrobe inspiration files.
