• Molly Ringwald's book is waiting for me at the library. So patiently. Saying "Please pick me up soon so you can read me. You've been waiting for style advice from Molly Ringwald forever…especially since she lived in France – your adopted home country!"

  • Piewacket - small inspiration 2

Craving a small, bright container like this green one for near my kitchen sink.
Sweet and simple.  So very pretty.

It's Friday!! Looking forward to bridesmaid dress shopping with a friend, attending a wedding, and then going to the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the local public museum.  Will attempt to make my first Anthropologie store visit as well.  Last time, I arrived an hour after they closed.  So sad.

What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Yep. Blogs + coffee = yummy morning.

Especially when you add hazelnut creamer which is not really hazelnut nor creamer as it's full of all these interesting things that are not natural ingredients. Am wondering if there's creamer out there that is really creamer and really has a natural flavoring??

Thankful today for cooler temps (70s instead of 90s) and for the bright sun. Would like to curl up like a cat in a spot of sunshine – and nap and read. But alas the day holds work, errands and attempting once again to give blood at a blood drive. I've been told there's new technology being used which allows 30% of the people previously turned away for low iron – to be able to donate blood! Hoping to be one of those in the 30%.

    How's your day turning out?

This is so not just your vanilla, white-bright-office.  Victoria adds these personal touches that are just right not to mention that she owns some things I would give my right arm for: wire baskets, amazing artwork, colorful pillows, inspiration on a wire…. it goes on and on.  Brilliant!

  • Summer - from norwegian elle decor

Early June here and it's already averaging 90 degrees with high humidity.  Naturally I'm thinking "summer!" and this collage does say "summer!".

Craving color today and this photo by Ninainvorm hits the spot!

    10 cent designer - colors
This photo by the 10 Cent Designer has a caption of "when I am an old lady I will wear yellow and green and orange all at the same time. oh wait. I did that today."    The colors are those that an elderly woman customer at Starbucks wears.  She has silvery blonde hair, dresses in a mix of bright colors, and is chic and beautiful!  I gaze at her when we both happen to be at Starbucks, and I want to be as pretty as she is when I'm her age!

To get me on my way looking bright and cheery, I am going to work with a friend to make four A-line skirts to wear this summer.  My summer uniform consists of a tee, a simple skirt and flip flops.  Heaven!  So if I could find material like that above in Little Alouette's photo, it would be a great start to the Summer Skirt Project!

Am home this holiday weekend – with a one day trip planned for Monday to see family.  It's 90 degrees with high humidity – and I'm choosing to do without air conditioning today and am doing just fine!  Will soon escape though with a friend to a cool cafe to read, play cards and enjoy an early dinner/late lunch.

Because I'm home and trying to not think about the heat, I'm drawn to the cool, white office  of Hasina (This and That) above. Hasina mentions she has other projects in mind for her home, so I can't wait to see the results of those projects!

    How is your weekend going?

Good evening!  It's Friday evening of a U.S. holiday weekend. Enjoyed a dinner of french toast with peanut butter and real maple syrup on it…then read my book a little more.  Jumped up from the couch to transfer clothes from the washer to the dryer and discovered some underwear wound tightly around the agitator..underneath all the fin thingies.  (I'm sooo technical!)  Thought it would require a quick pull on the underwear to get it loose but it wasn't that easy.

Then came this phone conversation with my friend Tina:

me:  "Ummm…..I've got underwear stuck in the washer.  Am too short to reach the bottom of the washer when I lean into it so I'm standing on a stepstool. I can now reach the underwear and have scissors in hand to cut the underwear but am afraid I'll pull too hard and knock myself out and stab myself in one move….Can you BELIEVE I got underwear stuck in the washer??? Who does that???"

tina:  "That's my GREATEST FEAR!!"  [dramatic]

me: "What? Your greatest fear is getting your underwear stuck in the washer???"

    tina:  "Right."

    me: "oh..it's being unconscious…."

tina: "yep..and people not finding you for days."

Because I didn't want to be left unconscious for days nor have a repairman be called thus requiring me to run around and tidy up the living and dining rooms before a repairman could be allowed into the home, I managed to get the underwear free of the machine – in little cloth pieces but they are free.

What kind of night is it when your greatest triumph is that your underwear is FREE of the washer?!

These are beautiful, simple workspaces for the home (or any lucky workplace!).

Then check out this photo of me at my desk during a homeschooling year for third grade (1976!) while my family was in Seoul, South Korea.  I was ecstatic over the fact that I had a Real Office Desk at which to work.

Third Grade - Home Schooled 1976

Let's observe a few things, shall we?

    •  Age 8, rockin' the long sleeve under short sleeve look.  That's right!
    • Early on in life – creating an inspiration board (not too shabby: a ballerina, a picture I colored in, and a chart containing sparkling stars).
    • Cute red pencil sharpener.
    • A globe with images that have changed much since 1976.
    • Let's not calculate my current age, shall we?  I'm "32".
    • The curtains behind me are pretty much the same pattern as the dress I wore for my eighth grade graduation from a small private school.  As the only girl in my class of two, I walked away with the Best Dressed award.

Happy-Almost-Long-Weekend to you!  I have no Big, Exciting Plans apart from seeing a movie or two (my to-see list includes Sex and the City 2,  the Queen Latifah movie, and Iron Man 2), visiting family in Appleton, continuing the decluttering of my kitchen, and reading on the deck if the weather cools down.

What do you have planned this weekend?
