• Childs room - yellow and orange
     image

Stopping in quickly to share a pretty kids room that has yellow + orange + hardwood floors + loads of space. Gonna go with "Wow, I would have loved this room as a child!!"

To continue the yellow theme, here's my new watch that just arrived from Sam Moon (great store with tons of accessories. I have to go in person when I'm in Texas every 10 years….or rely on the website).  Haven't worn a watch in more than eight years.  Usually the cell phone will suffice but after seeing this watch and realizing a gift card had just enough on it for the watch and shipping, it was a no-brainer.

So much yellow! Eye catching and snappy.  I can't get enough of it this spring.

It's Monday, and I think there was a weekend in there somewhere! I was at home long enough to do one load of laundry and make my  first roast ever (in the slow cooker).  I spent a fun evening at church Friday night for a concert (four bands), Saturday with one of my junior high girls, and Sunday at church and with family in Appleton.  Sunday was a perfectly relaxing day filled with games, bike rides, long walks, and helping a five year old niece learn to write her numbers.  ("Yes…a two is a little curve like an ear..then a line.  A five is a line across, a line down, then a curve.")

Hope you had a good weekend, my friends!

I was looking through the group photos on flickr of a group inspired by the Jeu Paumes books and recognized some orla kiely patterns in this kitchen. It is Orla Kiely! Lovely.

  • Francesca (Mrs. Eliot Books) has a home in the U.K. that she calls a magical house. I can see why she does!

  • A friend works for Trek where they have the cutest little cafe!
Sipping a mocha there while reading a good book would be quite the escape from the office.

  • IKEA - pretty photos 1.jpg

I'm certainly a fan of IKEA, but am now even more so after reading this blog entry:

Her thoughts on the store include:

    • Ikea is brightly lit, clean, spare, and functional. Everything I wish my brain could be.
    • Ikea gives me a vision of how organized I could actually be. How tasteful. How concise.

Isn't her daughter's outfit adorable? Word on the street is her dad made the scarf.

  • Elodierambaud - stylist 1

Stylish French stylist Elodie Rambaud creates beautiful interiors and styles food as well. I'll be keeping an eye on her work.  My friend Gina and I talk about creating bedrooms that look like cute shops..and I'd vote for the one above as a contender.  It's a shop but I wouldn't mind that being one wall of my bedroom!

This tall mirror and the tub caught my eye.  Simple + elegant.

5:20 AM Saturday Morning:  Last night was the first night in 2010 that I did not stay up until 3 AM coughing and falling asleep exhausted.  I got tired last night, went to bed, slept and woke up normally.  Feels like such an accomplishment that should be a regular occurrence.  Hopefully the cough is gone for good.  Or at least a little while.

It's been one week today since I turned in my cable box/DVR, and I've only missed it a little. I haven't been without a television…ever.  Spent the week working, reading, puttering around the house, going for walks and just thinking.  If there have been shows I've wanted to watch, I've found them online or gone without.

Today's plan is to show up at the library when it opens to find some free magazines to bring home (only ones I love…).  I also need to shop for some spring cardigans, cute shirts or capris.  And a new pair of flats for work.

After a nap, it'll be time to meet a friend for dinner for mexican food and martinis.

    What's your plan for today?

  • my jaw dropped. I love anything miniature..and can be be heard cooing baby noises at the small furniture and saying "isn't this the cutest thing ever?"

But these items have me in heaven! Looks like a little IKEA expedit bookcase that I've had my eye on forever. (I should just buy one already.)

Everything about this bathroom storage is lovely: the pretty cosmetic bag, the jars on the shelf, the crates used as cubbies…. Rachel Denbow did a great job with her small bathroom!  And if you visit her blog, she'll show you a photo of how the bathroom is on a non-photoshoot day!
