    Such a pretty condo!

Scott and Kim live in a trendy Chicago neighborhood and have turned their condo from a khaki-painted box into a cozy home for the two of them along with a puppy, two cats and some fish!

I love the advice they gave Apartment Therapy during their house tour:

    1) Work with the space you have, and not the space you wish you had. Oh, how we wish we could buy a 10 foot long dream sofa, but instead, we have the 75 incher – but covered in a dreamy velvet fabric. Extra chairs, ottomans, and pull up stools are the added boost we need for friendly drop-ins.

    2) Don’t be afraid to get started with your projects. There will always, always be an excuse to wait, but who needs excuses? Pick up your (insert tool needed here) and just go. Go, go!

    3) Also, and here’s the tops: mom knew best when she said to clean your room. Except this time, clean your home.

    It's a quiet, gray, snowy/rainy morning.
A moving slowly, waking up gradually kind of a day.
    Perhaps some color will help.
And some coffee with hazelnut creamer!

  • Alright. So it's still spring and is a chilly, grey day here, but all the more better to dream of summer. Oprah's site shows a summer makeover with brights and the photos (by Douglas Friedman) are dreamy – especially the fabrics.

Just got back from the doctor's office again (that makes one ER visit, two urgent care visits and two doctors office visits in 12 weeks: all for one cough). The verdict (bronchitis) is that I'll live!

Tiina is a Swedish blogger and "interior designer wannabe" who recently (Easter weekend) completed some home improvements including a new bed and a new paint color (love the white chandelier!).  She also has a pretty home blog.

  • Keith + Karen Mod House 5

The K2 House (home of Keith + Karen) was a rundown ranch home that they turned into "a midcentury modern masterpiece" according to Brian Patrick Flynn of Decor Demon.

Apart from the amazing home photos, I love Brian's narration because he makes it all seem so fun!  Even when he didn't realize until too late that the same arrangement was in two photos, he merely pointed it out and said "dammit" which had me laughing out loud and probably causing the neighbors to wonder what's wrong with that girl upstairs?!

Keith and Karen purchased many items at IKEA and would then pair them with high end items. The overall look is quite stunning.

Laura Cattano of The Order Obsessed, is a professional organizer and someone who lives in a highly organized apartment in New York City.  She performed a makeover for a couple expecting a baby.  Laura helped them repurpose furniture and closets to make room for the baby's items.  In her post, Laura links to the many flickr photos that document the process.

She also states that more storage doesn't mean you're more organized. I can testify to that as my many storage cupboards and closets filled up quickly with items flung onto shelves and into drawers when I moved into my apartment three years ago.  I've moved on from "WOO HOO…storage!" to "Need breathing room and a home for every item. Time to be intentional with things."

  • Stumbled upon Brian's blog the usual way – clicking from blog to blog one quiet evening.

Brian records daily life in London through his camera's lens.  I cannot keep my eyes off this one photo he took, imagining the person who lives there, what they're doing at the moment, and what books must those be on the ledge???
