niece mimosa napping, originally uploaded by sunnygirlwi.

Just popped in to say “Hello!” and to let you know I won’t be posting for a few days this week. I spent a couple hours today in the Emergency Room after fainting at work and falling out of my chair. (Felt more like a seizure but the doctors said it’s fainting from lack of oxygen during an intense cough.) This is The Cough I’ve had since New Year’s Eve 2009.

Am under orders to rest a few days, which I will gladly do. I am nervous to drive my car again in case I faint while driving!

Enough about this. I hope to see you again soon.

    Hugs!

    Sunny

PS: The photo is of my niece Mimosa on her stay at my house. She was napping so cutely that I had to snap a photo!

  • Noodlehead 4

Anna, of Noodlehead, recently completed a makeover of her creative space.  I love her little room!  You can see more photos on her flickr photostream, but of course I'll include a few more here.

It's 3:30 AM. Have been in battle with A Cough which has brought along its friend Sinus Infection.  The battle has been taking place since Christmas Day. Those two have worked so hard to keep me from sleeping that they've won – temporarily.  My coworkers would say the two have won after hearing me struggle all week at work.  So would my family.  I'm visiting family out of town in the morning but will have to return by evening because I don't want to subject family to hearing me cough all night.

Luckily you can't hear me…..so we can have a jolly good time!  Did I just say that?  Hmm…YES I did!  Must be the cold meds 🙂

  • What we do - living room 1

At "What We Do", a  Danish blog, they formed a couch by pushing three IKEA footstools together.  CREATIVE!  What caught my eye as well were the yellow pillow and the yellow coffee table.  Perfect!

Their blog has photos from all around the apartment.  Color everywhere!

Am down for the count. Sinus infection that is lingering on.  Was going to find a cute, comfy photo of a bed to portray "sick….will be back soon".  Then I saw the photo above of an apple duvet cover, and I perked right up. Etsy products tend to have that effect!

The duvet cover and shams sold out in 2007 (oops! I'm a bit late to the game) but the seller, Pata Pri, has a plethora of adorable linens and other items that are all designed and hand silkscreened by Pata Pri. She describes her work as "modern, fun, happy textile & paper goods".

Pardon me while I do some shopping.

Thought I was done but nope.  Found her blog!  She's from Chicago but staying with her grandmother in Japan and just whipped up some drawstring bags from some towels.  Nice talent!

EDITED: I kept calling her Pata Pri..which is her store's name, but the designer is Yuko Uemura.   Beautiful work, Yuko!

  • PlayroomLisaMahar

Lisa Mahar's playroom above is a room I've seen before, but I hadn't read the article on her (found via Bricolage & Butter) until today.  Was pleasantly surprised by all the photos included in the article.  The clean lines and impeccable organization of, well, everything, appealed to me.

I've become addicted to the Canadian HGTV show "For Rent" hosted by Jodi Gilmour, and many people on the show don't like small bedrooms.  But look at the room above? It's a small but pretty room.

Happy Friday!!  Some flowers for your weekend from Olivelse.  This weekend will be low key and may be just right: watch Bright Star, take a friend's four kids swimming at the family pool, complete this week's task for Apartment Therapy's Kitchen Cure, and play cards with friends.

Tell me, is your weekend more exciting than mine? Or maybe the same low-key-ness?

    Hello and Happy Thursday!

I probably should be watching The Office right now as it is the Baby Episode, after all.  But it can wait!  I saw this really cute, highly organized, very pretty San Francisco apartment and had to post the photos!  Newlyweds Emily and Meeko (okay – married almost a year) moved into this apartment and had to merge two styles together.  I'd say they did a magnificent job!

I love the yellow touches throughout the kitchen and work area, and the green in the bathroom and living room.  Emily has vignettes all over the apartment – even the spoons on the wall look like art!

The whole house tour is worth checking out.

Finding photos like the one above makes me smile. And my heart turns over at the beauty of the photo. You know then that I have to share it with you!

The colors in the kitchen are bright and cheerful and just right.  The simplicity of the room shows how relaxed and confident Nicoletter is.  I love the utensil holder, the curtains and the lamp.  (ahem. "Way to go," you are probably thinking, "You just told us what items in the first photo have color.")

So I'll stop talking, and let you explore Nicoletter's blog or flickr pages to see more of her home!

  • Pure mod life - home 5

One of the most stylish people I know, Stacey, introduced me to the book Pure Style by Jane Cumberbatch years ago after I asked her the secret to her gorgeous bedroom in a house she shared with many housemates. As in, how did she create such an oasis in such a busy household?!  In reply, Stacey loaned me the book Pure Style, and I fell in love with it.

Did you know there's a Pure Style blog?  It's refreshing to read, full of photos from Jane's home and garden, and tidbits to help you live a pure style life.  Some of her tips include:

    • Buy the best ingredients you can afford – good cheese, fish, meat, fruit vegetables, chocolate and wine – and from local sources if you can.
    • Make delicious food that is easy to prepare – hearty soups, crisp salads, fruit fools, homemade cakes and biscuits.
    • Lay the table with fresh linen, simple glasses, and a jug of flowers.
