• Styleroom - kitchen - pretty pillow

Still can't get enough of white + color and real homes in Sweden. Love the pillow on the chair and the chairs themselves.

a LifeList Design: K+ Cafe, originally uploaded by *miniyork*.

After seeing this photo on sfgirlbybay, I had to see the original setting on *miniyork*’s flickr page.

When my family lived in Korea, we had a kettle like the one shown here.

But really, I cannot keep my eyes off the furniture and the baskets underneath. So pretty.

  • Curls rock - curl amplifier

curls rock   This weekend was spent in search of the elusive, talked about Curls Rock Two-Packs at Target that a friend of mine found.   Such exciting news that I traveled this weekend to four different Target stores in search of this endcap display that had the deals. Only found it at a Target 45 minutes from where I live.

If you use Curls Rock and want a deal on it (Kathy and I each have 4 bottles now to last for a long time), see if your Target has this endcap with designer hair products – all two-for-one (including Frederic Fekkai, Paul Mitchell, Bed Head, etc.).

movies    On Labor Day, I saw Inglourious Basterds – the Quentin Tarantino Brad Pitt film.  While I spent half the time covering my face because of the gore, the other half was spent leaning forward, fully engrossed in the story.   Adored the actress playing Shoshanna… that French style.  Gorgeous!!

Also saw the Sandra Bullock All About Steve movie – and liked it.  Felt more like a long sitcom though than a movie.   Hope you had a good weekend!

A flickr group exists that displays pages from My Favorite Decor Magazine Ever (Domino), and this particular page has me quite wistful for such a minimalist living room as this.

  • Dos family - white house 4

Jenny from Dos Family visitd what she calls a "white, crispy cottage" this week and shared these photos today. It is a cottage available to rent – so naturally I'd love to hop a plane and live there for awhile.  I'm sure my bosses would understand. Easy peasy to work from a white cottage, right?!

Jenny has issued a challenge to take a creative, non-studio type family photo this weekend and post it or send it to her.

  • Alright, so the office isn't a prison office but Yvestown has an office in a
former prison building! She makes her home so cozy and beautiful that I
couldn't wait to see how pretty she'd make her office in an institutional
setting. She did a great job!

  • Orla-Kielys-office-004

I'm such a fan of Orla Kiely – and so to see her office is quite lovely!  I took in all the products that are favorites and it was only after awhile that I noticed the dog in the office.  And the mannequin with the fabric face – a bit creepy chic for my tastes but I'd wear that coat, thank you!  Wish I could waltz through and take the green bag, the suitcase, the green lockers, and everything with the Orla leaf pattern on it…and whisk the dog off for a long walk.  One can dream, can't she?

Photo and article can be found here.

  • It's back to school time and am reading all sorts of stories of kindergarteners and first graders – and how the tears flow.

We lived in California on my first day of kindergarten.  I looked around at all the kids crying and clinging to their parents and didn't get it.  Why cry?  "Babies," I thought, scornfully.  (Yeah – a pretentious five year old.  NICE)

Let's fast forward a few days in the week to when I'm the Student of the Day* who gets to deliver papers from the classroom to The Office.  I wander the school, cannot find the office, and end up at HOME (next door), CRYING my heart out because I can't find my way, and have to be led back to my classroom. In tears.

Betcha all the other kids were like, "What's with Crybaby over there?  Kindergarten's no big deal.  I'M KING OF THE HILL!!!"

*Let's not get excited here.  My last name begins with "B" and I assume they just went down the list alphabetically.  Okay – DO get excited.  STUDENT OF THE DAY!!

  • Package for Sam 2, originally uploaded by Loddelina.

This bag is gorgeous! It's part of a swap that was held this summer. (If you click the photo, it'll take you to the group/photo pool that holds all the swap photos.)

There will apparently be new swaps in the fall and winter, so visit Oh, Hello Friend for more details.

  • Target goodness

I find the best things in Target's clearance sections.  A quick jaunt at lunch scored a $4.24 black knit skirt – perfect for tossing on to run errands or on those days when *ugh* there's nothing to wear at all.

Also picked up a four-pack of greenroom (70% recycled) notebooks for $1.24.  (regularly priced $5)  Funny I found those as I was walking the store with a shopping list recorded in a passport-sized greenroom notebook that I got last year on clearance (74 cents for a 3-pak).

The fun purchases of the day were m&m's and a mood magnet with a beauty queen proclaiming her mood of the day to be:  "Miss Happy-Go-Lucky" or "Miss Funky".  When you visit, one glance at my fridge front will reveal the mood o' the day.

edited: wow…that computer speaker in the background is u-g-l-y you ain't got no alibi.
