It's Friday!  Am crabby as heck. A traffic snarl in my little town has me all irritable.  Stay clear!  At least it's the weekend!!!!

reading  Accidental It Girl (by Libby Street)..has me laughing out loud at bits like this:

"It looked like Holly Hobby had been held prisoner there, tortured, and then blown herself up MacGyver style using only a paper clip, some Pepto-Bismol, and a thousand yards of lace."

  • Glimpses of my niece + nephews as they played outside at Gramma's house on Saturday.

On Saturday while Gramma ran errands, it was time for "Okay, kids, let's go outside and pretend the trees are our forts while your mama and papa stage the house and photograph it so it can be sold!"  (My mom is retiring and moving two hours away to live near these grandkids!)

So we played outside and Mimo showed me her house…. "It's THIS big!"  She's certainly her organized mother's daughter, as she quickly categorized the areas in the stone circle as the rooms in her house and then promptly hung up her pail and shovels as "kitchen items" on the branches.  Neat and tidy – that was her house.  She made "soup" from sand and branches in the pail and found a rock to cover it while it "cooked".

When do we move from that imagination into office-drudgery and running errands?

So I'm browsing through Google Reader attempting to catch up on dozens (okay – hundreds?!) of blogs and their updates.  I am making my way through 200+ Apartment Therapy posts when I see this photo.  WHAT?  It's not my closet BUT I have the same drawers from IKEA, the same boxes in those two patterns, and I need inspiration.

I'll show you one "after" photo but for the rest you must visit the photos here.

  • Big Aparment With Creative Interior

What a pretty blue kitchen in this Tokyo apartment.
The floor pattern in the hallway/living area is certainly unique!

  • Preparation - the night before

If I were 100% organized, I'd have my outfit + accessories laid out this way each evening rather than the lucky-for-me-each-item-goes-with-everything system of finding a pair of pants/skirt/dress in the morning then matching it to a top + cardigan + shoes – and putting them in the gym bag and hope all items are there when getting ready at the gym.

I like these jeans + gray sweater + watch.

Then after the clothes have been selected for the next day, I'd organize the daily essentials in and near my bag so that a quick getaway in the morning could be had.

    Preparation - daily essentials

These photos are from the Personal Organizing Workbook first read about on marta's blog.  The day I received the book, I flipped through it with Megan, one of my starbucks baristas, and was boasting that each photo was from my apartment and my daily routine.  She liked the book so much, I found one on amazon.com (used) for $2.07 and purchased it for her.  Gotta share the prettiness.

No time tonight to read the book as I'm leaving shortly for the company golf outing's social hour and then out to dinner (Famous Daves) with my mom and her best friend who is in town for a few days.

Question:  If I like John Grisham's books, what other authors would I like?  I stayed up until 11 PM last night – knowing my alarm was set for 5:00 AM and still kept reading – to finish Grisham's The Associate.

Would adore dining in this room by the windows, perhaps dancing after dinner. Will keep this image in mind as tonight’s tasks include buying groceries and picking up books at the library.

  • A college friend, Rachel, takes beautiful photos and posts them on her blog, journal of a nomad.
Here are a few from an entry called preparations.   When immersed into Rachel's blog, I often wish I could jump into the photos and join the dinner party or rummage sale or the hanging out on a friend's porch.

DosFamily featured the transformation by Marta of a walk-in closet into a play-in nook for her niece.
